Presented here is Peter’s Grand Canyon piece, “Mather Point 5:18 PM”. The photo above is  of the  8’ X 30’  canvas, the first of three canvases a work, in progress. 

This, the first of three large scale pieces has been put together by joining four canvases together. The oil painting depicts a sweeping vista from the south rim. The second image, to come, will be generated from the oil image, and will consist of 256 separate monotypes. The third work will be created from the second work as a ghost print or second printing from the monotypes and will be enhanced with watercolor.

This tryptic form of using the monotype and ghost prints as a form is an undercurrent in Richardson’s work.
